Intermountain Region
The Intermountain region is surrounded by many wetland, rivers, and lakes. A French settler had decided to move here during an outburst that occured in France. Here's how he adapted to the environment.
Jacque Tousseau noticed that the topography here wasn't as different as his own. The landscape was relitavely flat but had a number of hills. There was also a wide variety of mountains in the region. In addition, mountains and plateaus usually don't get to sea because they flow into dry lakes or desert sinks. The landscape varies between the different areas of the region.
As Jacques moved through the areas of the region he realized that the climate changes depending on the elevation or location in the region. Winters are usually cold and wet due to the precipitation. Although in the south areas of the region the winters may be short and warm because of the lack of precipitation. In the north of the region, the winters are the coldest while the summers tend to be fairly hot. Jacques would be able to adapt best if he were to live in the south areas of the region so that the winters wouldn't have to affect him as much as it would if he lived in the north.
The vegetation of the Intermountain region is mainly grasslands and contains plants that can survive even in the desert! In the areas with higher elevation, the vegetation is mainly covered with thin pine forests which would be the best place for Jacques to settle because having a lot of vegetation may create resources for him.
Over time there would be a lot more resources that are discovered throughout this region, so if there were any changes they would probably be beneficial to Jacques because of the resources that he may have discovered.
